About the Book
Arsa-Prayoga: Preserving Srila Prabhupada’s Legacy is a nearly 400-page compilation devoted to the changes made to Śrīla Prabhupāda’s books and the principles at stake in preserving the published work of an ācārya.
The volume argues for ārṣa-prayoga—respect for authoritative usage and the preservation of the ācārya’s teachings in their published form rather than rewriting them to make them appear more effective, modern, or politically acceptable. It also documents the distinction between Śrīla Prabhupāda’s published books and later posthumously revised editions.
Its purpose is both argumentative and historical: to preserve evidence about the editing controversy for devotees and future researchers who want to understand what was changed, why objections were raised, and why the integrity of the original editions matters.
