About the Book
In Srila Prabhupada: The Transcendental Art Master, Govinda Dasi relates how Śrīla Prabhupāda instructed her and other young devotee artists in producing devotional paintings for his books.
Her account emphasizes the extent to which Prabhupāda personally supervised the artwork and cared about its theological and devotional presentation. The book also addresses the later removal of many of those authorized paintings from subsequent editions.
For the book-changes discussion, the testimony is important because preservation concerns more than wording alone. Illustrations, layout, and other elements explicitly guided or approved by the author can also form part of the historical presentation of his work.
Author: Govinda Dasi, ACBSP.
